Contest Rules and Regulations –Rules and Regulations PDF Format


  • Contestants must register first to obtain a competition ID Number/Tag before submitting the Competition Entry Form
  • Complete the entry form and submit it along with a DVD of your robot performing the task(s) it was designed to execute

Your entry form must include:

  • Your competition ID Number
  • Your name/names of all team members making the submission
  • Team name if applicable
  • Name of University/College/High School where contestants are currently registered (or have just concluded their final semester)
  • Name of robot and a description of the function robot was designed to perform
  • Supplementary details:
    • The vision behind the unique robotic design
    • General description of the robot, purpose and function of design
    • Description of three key engineering design details worth noting
    • Optional: Projected potential for expandable functions/uses/platforms

DVD Labeled with ID Number and Applicant/Team Name:

  • DVD on camera introduction must include:
    • On Camera Spokesperson: *** All presenters must be registered University, College or High School Students. Teachers may NOT present on the DVD or in person at the conference.
  • The DVD Spokesperson must provide on camera information including:
    • Spokespersonʼs name, institution affiliation,
    • Competition ID number, team name, name of robot
    • Narration should describe the function and purpose of the robot and itʼs potential commercial use
    • Video must include visuals and narration of the robot performing the functions it was designed to execute
    • Spokespersons should point out at least 3 major design features they would like the judges to note
    • Visuals of the robot in motion and at rest (360 degree shots of the robot at rest)
    • The function or functions the robot is expected to perform
    • The demonstration must include the robot performing the function it was designed for and a clear tour of the mdoel and control mechanisms/instrumentation involved
    • Video must be one to three minutes in duration.

Still Photos Required:

  • Entries must include three still photos of the robot on the DVD in addition to the video submission
  • One photo should include the robot and the team
    • Names of all the applicants in the photo
    • Competition ID Number
    • Institution the applicant/group is affiliated with
    • The name of the robot

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Judging will be based on the following elements:
    • Innovation uniqueness
    • Practicality
    • Commercial potential
    • Presentation

Pre-Competition Screening:

  • Robots will be inspected by the CSii Innovation Nation Organizing Committee Sunday, May 31st in advance of the competition to ensure that they are in working order and ready for the competition.

Deadline for submissions: May 4th 2016

  • Note: entries received after deadline will not be considered valid and will be disqualified.
